Içmeler, a small town in South Western Turkey,
has probably the best bay and views in the Mediterranean. The long sandy beach
(volcanic), for sunbathing, swimming and water sports, is dotted with palm
trees and is surrounded by the most beautiful
mountain scenery; the mountains covered by pine forests.
Içmeler is close to Marmaris, a much larger town, which can just be seen
in the far distance in the photograph above. For a very pleasant, but fit,
walk try the seafront path from Içmeler to Marmaris. It's only about 6 miles
(!) but there are plenty of "watering holes" on the way. The trip
back will be much more relaxing by water taxi (taksi bot) or bus (dolmus).
The Lighthouse is in a central but quieter part of Içmeler town. No loud music.
It is a short walk from the beach.
Find the large square where the car park and cash machines are situated.
